Conversational Meditating: Having Talks with Yourself, your Inner God/ess, and your Subconscious!

Want to "talk" to yourself? Your inner God and Goddess, or any deity you believe within? Your subconscious? Try these exercises through meditation or just plain deep thinking, and "connect" with yourself through conversations that you can have in your mind-these exercises are extremely helpful and beneficial to your mind, body, and most importantly, spirit.

Exercise 1: Talking to your inner God or Goddes, or any deity within

Imagine any setting you want, the point is it has to be comfortable to you and only you. This setting can by anything, a forest, a city, even your own bedroom! If I were you, I would do a setting in nature, as nature embodies tranquility and purity and helps you connect with the Earth. The most beneficial (and evocative to us Wiccans) would be to imagine a forest with a lake and a full moon shining overhead in the dark. Imagine a road appearing in this forest or whatever place you are visualizing. Follow the road, sense everything: every touch, scent, vibration, feeling, imagine, taste, all of your senses; including your intuition/sixth sense! Feel this world envelop you in its dreamy vividness, and finally, conjure an ending to the road. In my visualizations, I usually imagine the road rising up from the middle of the lake and taking me through a moonlight walk to the beach, where something is waiting...

The ending to the road should be a scene resembling the surroundings of any deity you want to talk to. Conjure/visualize the God or Goddess if you're Wiccan, Buddha, Christ, anybody you want to talk to. Imagine this deity doing anything that reminds you of he or she, for me I would do the God and Goddess dancing, or both of them sitting down. When you're ready, face them. Have them acknowledge your presence, and acknowledge theirs as well. Sit down with them or get into a position where you can talk to them, and be ready to ask your question. A sample question which is really good would be:

"How can I make my life most optimal for me, with harm to none and free will to all?"

Then visualize your inner God or Goddess or deity giving you a loving, warm answer. This can be done for spiritual holidays such as Mabon, and I always do it for every Sabbat. I've known people from all religions to do this to give thanks to whom they worship. I mainly do this for asking guidance from the Divine.

Seems simply, doesn't it? Let's move on to the next exercise.

Exercise 2: Talking to yourself

Again, repeat the above when visualizing a setting and a pathway to a road. Instead of a deity, visualize your higher self. When I say higher, visualize the most radiant, nice, loving, understanding, wise, and smartest version of you. This version of you may or may not be perfect in appearance but you can still seek answers from this version of you. Once again, repeat the same process of meeting them, and ask questions. This method of conversational meditation is mainly for seeking answers within yourself and attempting to realize subconscious truth. Perhaps you're creating your own problems, correct? Why not have conversational meditation with yourself in order to seek deeper answers to your problems?

Explanation

When using this form of meditation, the person you are truly talking to is yourself. Always ask for blessings and protection, or cleanse the area around you before starting. Everybody has an inner Deity, and everybody has a subconsciously "true" version of themselves. You can can talk to anybody you want, but I recommend choosing a deity or yourself. Basically, you are talking to your subconscious and the Divine (if you choose to believe that).

I've known people who've had spirits appear in their meditation (beings that they do not conjure up themselves) when they get into a deeper state of awareness! The possibility are endless. These exercises are only guideposts in helping you have a conversation to seek any answer, question, or to give thanks to anybody, yourself, or even the God and Goddess! Conversational meditation is truly an extraordinarily experience anybody can have.

I had extremely interesting experiences with conversation meditation, mainly one I did at a full moon. For some reason, I (my subconscious) conjured them as the most beautiful people in the world, strangely my age, and strangely parental at the same time! They were very wise and guideful people who helped me as I sought answers and exchanged blessings. Also strange, the next time I chose to use the God and Goddess to talk to through my conversational meditation, they appeared as younger versions of me, both male and female, who gave such fun answers to questions in childish, yet extremely wise, answers.

Now, the answers you get may or may not come from the Divine, but generally anything you do not predict to be an answer, or anything you did not expect, comes from the Divine and your subconscious in work. It really depends on beliefs.

Spirits or not?

Usually, getting into a deeper state of meditation opens up your awareness, making you vulnerable to spirit guide and spirit contact. The reason why I recommend cleansing your aura and the area around you, and asking not only whatever you believe in but yourself for blessing and protection, is to protect you from any negative entities and energies harming you, ruining the point of benificial conversational meditation. That being said, I have met many people who use conversational meditation to contact with spirits. A rare number of these people have been posessed by these spirits, similar to a stereotypical T.V. seance where a gyspy-like woman is posessed by a spirit and speaks as a vessel. I do not recommend this as it is extremely dangerous. Once again, always prepare for safety if whatever you're doing can cause harm.

Anyways, have fun using conversational meditation, hopefully not just to help yourself, but others as well! And keep in mind, conversational meditation is best done quietly with extreme concentration, but anybody can do it at any time.

Thank you!
